Taking over an existing project
We start by reading the code and the infrastructure, and by writing down what we found. Only once we know what we are holding do we discuss what changes, and in what order.

Alerts that mean something
We watch availability, errors and response times, but we set the thresholds so that an alert means someone has to look now. An alert that fires often stops being read.

Interventions and reports
When something falls over we fix it and write down what happened and why. Once a month you get a summary: what was down, for how long, and what we changed so it does not recur.
